DYNAMIC CHEST STRETCH

Dynamic stretching is an ideal way to warm-up that involves active movement of your joints and muscles passing through a full range of motion. The Dynamic Chest Stretch focuses on your pectoral muscles and is therefore ideal for warming-up for upper-body training.

1° Muscles: Pectorals

2° Muscles: Mid-lower Trapezius, Latissimus Dorsi

SET-UP
  1. Stand tall (neutral spine, chest up, chin up) with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Keeping your arms straight, hold them out in front of you with your hands held just below shoulder height.
EXECUTION
  1. Keeping your arms straight, quickly move them back as far as comfortably possible before returning them back to your front.
  2. Repeat for the prescribed number of reps, increasing speed between each.
  1. The motion of this exercise should resemble an exaggerated clapping motion.
  2. As your flexibility improves in your chest you should be able to pull your arms further back. As this happens, ensure that you pull your arms back enough for a stretch to still be felt in your chest.
